Load Bank

In previous blogs, we’ve discussed the importance of load bank testing to ensure the generator will continue to operate efficiently while being capable of handling significant loads in situations such as a power outage. This leads to the question: how often should load bank testing be performed?

The general rule of thumb when it comes to load bank testing frequency is to do it once a year at the very least as this allows you to evaluate the performance of a generator. However, there may be certain scenarios where you can do this less often. Let’s explain.

The first thing you want to do is to figure out how your diesel-powered generator’s monthly usage. Does it carry out its nominal plate kW rating load over or below thirty percent during regular monthly operating cycles?

If your generator runs at least 30 minutes per month at 30 percent or more of its nameplate kW score, load banks may not need to be deployed for testing. Nonetheless, you should consider seeking the advice of experts in a load bank company before making this decision. To develop the right testing strategy for your service, a generator load bank testing expert will assess your plant, systems, equipment, and specifications.

On the other hand, if your generator runs for at least 30 minutes per month for less than 30 percent of its nameplate kW value, you must use load banks to produce an artificial load for performance testing each year.
