Check Live Voltage on PZ410 Power Screen

CHECK

Navigate to Power Screen Page 1 to see current generator voltage on all phases. This helps distinguish a real overvoltage condition from a sensor or wiring false alarm.

If voltage reads normal (within 5% of nominal) but alarm triggered → possible false alarm from wiring or firmware. If voltage is genuinely high → AVR is not regulating. Note: after a cold start or sudden load shed, a brief voltage spike is normal — sustained overvoltage is not.

Inspect AVR Wiring (J1 Connector)

ACTION

The PZ410's AVR function uses the J1 connector (4-pin: Field+, Field-, DPE1, DPE2). Loose or corroded connections here can disrupt voltage regulation.

With generator OFF and battery disconnected, inspect the J1 AVR connector for loose pins, corrosion, or damaged wiring. The DPE inputs (pins 1 and 3) provide voltage feedback to the controller — any break causes loss of regulation.

Check Voltage Setpoint Parameter

ACTION

If the voltage setpoint was accidentally changed (Settings → Adjust Voltage), the generator may be commanded to produce voltage above nominal.

Navigate to Settings Screen Page 1 → Adjust Voltage. Confirm the setpoint matches your system's nominal voltage. This is a user-editable parameter — if it was bumped, restore it to nominal.

Clear Alarm and Monitor

RESET

If wiring and setpoint are confirmed correct, clear the alarm and monitor voltage on Power Screen Page 1 closely after restart.

Alarm Screen → ↑/↓ → STOP + ENTER → press AUTO. Voltage should stabilize at nominal ±0.5% within 10 seconds. Any sustained overvoltage → shut down immediately. AVR board replacement or excitation winding diagnosis is required.

After reset

Did the code clear?

Yes — code cleared

The code cleared and the unit returned to standby. Log the incident, confirm ready-to-run status, and monitor the next exercise cycle.

No — code returned

If the code returns immediately, stop resetting and move into service. The issue likely needs inspection of wiring, switches, or a controller-level component.
