Generac Generators South Florida | A&A Power Generators

If you’re weighing a Generac standby generator for your South Florida home or business, sizing and fuel choice matter as much as picking a model. The right system depends on what you need to keep running, how much power that takes, and how the generator will be fueled and maintained once it’s in place.

A&A Power Generators helps South Florida property owners work through those decisions and plan for dependable backup power.

What a Generac Standby System Includes

A standby generator is installed permanently outside the property and starts automatically when utility power fails. The system has two main parts:

The generator: Produces electricity during an outage and can typically be configured for natural gas or propane, depending on the model.
The transfer switch: Moves the property between utility power and generator power automatically. Because it connects directly to the electrical system, wiring and installation should be handled by a licensed electrician or qualified installer.

Matching System Size to Your Property

Sizing comes down to what you want to power and how much electricity those systems draw, including the extra power some equipment needs at startup. An air-conditioning compressor is a common example: it can pull a short burst of extra power when it turns on, and if several large loads start at once, an undersized generator may become overloaded.

For a home, common priorities include:

Air conditioning
Refrigeration
Lighting and internet
Security systems
Medical equipment

For a business, priorities often include refrigeration, climate control, security, communications, and point-of-sale systems.

Some properties choose whole-home backup; others focus on essential circuits only. There’s no single right answer. It depends on your electrical demand, your priorities, and your budget. A&A Power Generators can help review your power needs, though final electrical calculations and installation should be handled or confirmed by licensed professionals.

Fuel Options: Natural Gas or Propane

Many residential Generac standby generators run on natural gas or propane, depending on the approved configuration.

Natural gas is convenient where utility gas service already exists. There’s no tank to maintain and no deliveries to schedule, but the gas system needs enough capacity to support the generator alongside other appliances, which a qualified professional should confirm.
Propane works well for properties without gas service, with fuel stored on-site and a long shelf life. Runtime depends on tank size and generator demand, and placement should be handled by qualified professionals.

Generators should only run on fuel types approved for that specific model. Never attempt an unapproved fuel conversion.

Residential and Commercial Considerations

Homeowners typically prioritize comfort, safety, and simplicity. Commercial and multi-site properties, such as offices, retail centers, or assisted living facilities, often have added layers: documentation, testing schedules, and coordination across more than one system. A&A Power Generators supports both, including log books and service records for facilities that need them.

Ongoing Service After the Sale

A generator is only ready when it’s maintained. Quarterly or semiannual service is often recommended in South Florida, where heat, humidity, and coastal conditions can speed up wear on batteries, fuel systems, and electrical connections.

Frequently Asked Questions About Generac Generators

1. Is a Generac generator a good fit for South Florida?

Yes. The right fit depends on the property’s electrical demand, available fuel, placement, and maintenance needs, with South Florida’s heat, humidity, and storm exposure factored into planning.

2. How do I know what size generator I need?

Sizing depends on what you want to power and how much electricity those systems use, including startup demand for larger equipment. A proper electrical load review should be part of the process.

3. Can a Generac generator power an entire property?

Some systems support whole-property backup, while others focus on essential circuits only. The right setup depends on your electrical demand and generator capacity.

4. Should I choose natural gas or propane?

It depends on whether the property already has gas service. Natural gas avoids fuel deliveries, while propane works well where gas isn’t available. A qualified professional can confirm what your property supports.

5. Does A&A Power Generators install the generator?

No. A&A supports generator selection, planning, and coordination. Installation is completed by your licensed electrician or installer.

6. How often does a standby generator need service?

Quarterly or semiannual maintenance is often recommended in South Florida because of the heat, humidity, and coastal conditions that speed up wear.
