Why won't my Generac generator start?

A generator that will not start can have several possible causes, including battery or charging issues, fuel problems, control concerns, electrical faults, or other operating problems. Proper diagnosis is needed to determine the cause.

What should I do if my Generac generator shows an error code?

Record the error or warning and request service if you are unsure what it means or the condition keeps returning. An error code can provide useful information, but clearing it without addressing the underlying problem may leave the issue unresolved.

Why does my Generac generator keep shutting down?

Repeated shutdowns can be associated with overheating, fuel-related problems, electrical or control issues, or other operating conditions. A technician can inspect the system and determine what is causing the shutdown.

Why does my Generac generator fail under load?

A generator can start normally but struggle when electrical demand increases. Possible contributing factors include fuel delivery issues, excessive load, equipment condition, cooling concerns, electrical problems, or transfer and control issues.

Can you repair an older Generac generator?

An older Generac can often be evaluated for repair. However, age, condition, parts availability, repair history, and current power requirements should all be considered before deciding whether to continue repairing the system.

When should I replace my Generac generator instead of repairing it?

Replacement may make more sense when the generator is more than 10 to 12 years old, repairs are becoming frequent, parts are difficult to find, the system has significant damage, or it no longer meets the property's power needs.

Does maintenance affect Generac warranty coverage?

Maintenance and service records may be relevant to manufacturer warranty requirements. Coverage and maintenance terms can vary by generator model and warranty plan. Confirm current requirements with Generac or the applicable authorized service provider.

Where can I find my Generac model and serial number?

The model and serial number are generally listed on the generator's data label. The exact location can vary by model. Having this information available can help the service team identify the correct system.

Do you install Generac generators?

A&A Power Generators does not perform full generator installation. We provide generator repair, maintenance, replacement planning, safe removal, and coordination with licensed electricians or installers.

Can A&A help with commercial Generac generator repair?

Yes. A&A provides generator repair and service support for businesses, commercial properties, assisted living facilities, and other facilities across South Florida.

Generac Generator Repair in South Florida

When your Generac generator will not start, shows an error code, shuts down, or struggles under load, you need clear answers and dependable service.

A&A Power Generators provides Generac generator repair for homes, businesses, assisted living facilities, and commercial properties across South Florida. Our technicians inspect the system, identify the cause of the problem, and explain the repair options in plain language.

A generator can develop a problem long before it completely fails. Getting warning signs checked early can help reduce the risk of discovering a major issue during a power outage.

Common Signs Your Generac Generator Needs Repair

Generac generators can develop starting, fuel, electrical, control, and performance issues. Watch for these warning signs:

Failure to start
Starting and stopping
Failed weekly exercise cycles
Oil or fuel leaks
Breaker trips
Unusual engine noise
Voltage changes
Overheating
Shutdowns under load
Corrosion or damaged components

If the generator clicks but does not start, cranks without running, or does nothing at all, repeated start attempts may drain the battery or make diagnosis more difficult.

Generac Error Code Diagnosis

Generac generators use alerts and error codes to show that the system has detected a problem. An error code can provide a useful starting point, but the code does not always identify the failed component by itself. Proper diagnosis usually means checking:

Battery and charging-system condition.
Fuel-system operation.
Oil level and related operating conditions.
Electrical connections.
Control system information.
Sensors and other system components.
Generator operation and performance.

Our technicians test the related systems and look for the root cause instead of only clearing the alert.

Generac Generator Failing Under Load

A generator may start during a basic test but fail when it has to power the property. This is known as failing under load.

The electrical load is the amount of power used by equipment such as air conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, pumps, elevators, and other electrical systems. As demand increases, a generator may shut down, show unstable operation, or struggle to maintain normal performance. A few things can cause this:

Fuel delivery problems.
Excessive electrical demand.
Generator sizing concerns.
Alternator or electrical component problems.
Cooling issues.
Dirty filters.
Loose or damaged connections.
Engine performance problems.
Transfer switch or control issues.

Testing the system under appropriate operating conditions can help determine whether the generator is responding properly to the property’s power demands.

Our Generac Generator Repair Process

Review the Problem

We ask what happened, when the issue started, and whether the generator failed during an exercise cycle or outage. Error codes, unusual sounds, and previous service records can help guide the inspection.

Inspect and Test the System

Our technicians check for leaks, corrosion, damaged wiring, loose connections, overheating, and visible wear. Testing may include:

Battery and charging system checks
Fuel system inspection
Oil and filter review
Startup testing
Control panel diagnostics
Voltage and frequency testing
Cooling and airflow checks
Performance testing under load

Explain the Findings

Once the problem is identified, we explain what is wrong, what may have caused it, and which repair options make sense.

Service and Retesting

When repair work is appropriate and approved, the system can be serviced and tested as needed to evaluate startup and operation and identify any remaining concerns.

Residential Generac Generator Repair

A home standby generator may support air conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, medical equipment, security systems, pumps, and communication devices.

When the generator fails, the home can quickly become hot, uncomfortable, or unsafe. Timely service helps determine whether the system needs repair, maintenance, or replacement planning.

Commercial Generac Generator Repair

Commercial generators help protect operations, equipment, building safety, and revenue. A failure can cause downtime, interrupted services, lost inventory, or inspection concerns.

Our commercial Generac generator service covers:

Starting and battery diagnostics
Fuel system testing
Electrical and control system checks
Alarm and shutdown diagnosis
Load-readiness evaluation
Operational testing
Service documentation
Repair planning

We work with businesses, property managers, assisted living facilities, multi-story buildings, and other commercial properties across South Florida.

Emergency Generac Generator Service

Turn the generator off and request service if you notice:

Smoke or a burning smell
Oil or fuel leaks
Damaged wiring
Loud mechanical noises
Overheating
Repeated shutdowns during an outage

Do not open electrical panels or attempt repairs involving fuel, wiring, or the transfer switch unless you are qualified to do so.

Generac Generator Maintenance

South Florida heat, humidity, storms, and coastal air can speed up battery wear, corrosion, fuel system problems, and electrical damage.

Routine maintenance can involve:

Oil and filter changes
Battery and charging-system checks
Fuel-system checks
Startup and operational testing
Electrical connection reviews
Leak inspections
Early identification of wear or developing problems

Quarterly or semiannual maintenance is often recommended because heat, humidity, and coastal conditions can speed up wear. The right schedule depends on the model, operating hours, property needs, and manufacturer guidance. Regular service can help reduce the risk of breakdowns and keep your generator ready for the next outage.

Should You Repair or Replace Your Generac Generator?

Repair may be the right choice when the unit is in good condition, and the problem involves a serviceable component.

Replacement may make more sense when:

The generator is more than 10 to 12 years old
Repairs are becoming frequent
Replacement parts are difficult to find
The unit has major engine or alternator damage
The generator no longer supports the property’s power needs
Corrosion or physical damage is extensive

A&A Power Generators can evaluate the existing unit, review your power needs, and explain whether repair or replacement support may be the better long-term option.

A&A does not perform full generator installation. We can help with system evaluation, replacement planning, safe removal, generator selection guidance, and coordination with your licensed electrician or installer.
