PZ410 2750 / 2751 / 2760 — Battery Warning / Very Low Battery / Battery Problem

2750 / 2751 / 2760 — Battery Warning / Very Low Battery / Battery Problem Battery voltage is critically low or the charging system has a problem. The PZ410 has three battery-related codes with different severity: 2750 (Warning) — battery voltage below 12.1V for 1 minute. Unit continues to run. 2751 (Shutdown Alarm) — battery voltage below 9.0V for 60 seconds. Unit shuts down and locks out. This is unique to the PZ410 — the Evolution/Nexus controllers do not have a Very Low Battery shutdown. 2760 (Warning) — battery voltage is above 16V OR charge current is above 600mA at the end of an 18-hour charge cycle — indicating the battery may have failed internally. Battery at end of service life — internal capacity loss (2750/2751)Battery charger circuit breaker tripped inside generator cabinetCharger not receiving 120V AC (GOT_T1 input disconnected) — raises separate 2780 faultBattery with internal short — drawing excess current (2760)Battery overcharge from external charger malfunction (2760)Corroded or loose battery terminals reducing charging efficiencyBattery older than 4–5 years losing capacity to hold charge

Battery at end of service life — internal capacity loss (2750/2751)

Battery charger circuit breaker tripped inside generator cabinet

Charger not receiving 120V AC (GOT_T1 input disconnected) — raises separate 2780 fault

Battery with internal short — drawing excess current (2760)

Battery overcharge from external charger malfunction (2760)

Corroded or loose battery terminals reducing charging efficiency

Battery older than 4–5 years losing capacity to hold charge

Step-by-step workflow

Follow the diagnostic and reset sequence

1

Check Battery Voltage on Engine Screen Page 3

CHECK

Navigate to Engine Screen Page 3 to see: Battery Volts, Charge Amps, Ext. Charger status, and Battery Condition. This gives a complete picture before touching anything.

Healthy standby battery: 12.6–13.8V (charger float voltage). Below 12.0V = needs charging or replacement. Below 9.0V = 2751 shutdown territory — replace immediately. Battery Condition reading: 'Good' = healthy, 'CHECK BATTERY' = replace. Charge Amps >0 = charger is actively charging.
2

Check Battery Charger Breaker

CHECK

The PZ410's internal 5A battery charger has a dedicated circuit breaker inside the generator cabinet. This is the most common fixable cause of battery drain.

Open the generator's service access panel and locate the charger circuit breaker. If tripped, push fully to OFF then to ON. If it trips again immediately — charger fault. Note: the PZ410 raises alarm 2780 (Charger Missing AC) if the AC input to the charger is disconnected for more than 5 minutes.
3

Inspect Battery Terminals

ACTION

Corroded battery terminals dramatically reduce both charging efficiency and cranking current. Inspect both positive and negative terminals and cable clamps.

Clean corrosion (white/blue-green buildup) with a wire brush and a baking soda/water solution. Rinse, dry, reconnect (positive first, then negative), and apply terminal protector spray. After cleaning, check Engine Screen Page 3 — Charge Amps should show the charger working.
4

Replace Battery if Needed

ACTION

For 2751 (below 9.0V) or 2760 (battery problem after charge cycle), or any battery over 4–5 years old — replace the battery.

The XG series uses a 12V automotive-style battery (check your XG owner's manual for the specific group size — typically Group 26R or 51). After replacement, confirm the PZ410 is set for 12V battery system (Engine Screen Page 3 — if Ext. Charger shows 'OFF' and 12V is configured correctly).
5

Clear Alarm and Confirm Charger is Working

RESET

After battery replacement or fixing the charger issue, clear the alarm and confirm normal operation.

Alarm Screen → ↑/↓ → STOP + ENTER → press AUTO. Check Engine Screen Page 3 again after 30 minutes — Charge Amps should be positive and decreasing as the battery fills, Battery Condition should read 'Good'.

After reset

Did the code clear?

Yes — code cleared

The code cleared and the unit returned to standby. Log the incident, confirm ready-to-run status, and monitor the next exercise cycle.

No — code returned

If the code returns immediately, stop resetting and move into service. The issue likely needs inspection of wiring, switches, or a controller-level component.

Prevention

Best practices and next checks

Replace Battery Every 3–5 Years

The 2750 warning fires at 12.1V — if you receive it and the battery is over 4 years old, replace it immediately.

Verify Charger Function Monthly

Engine Screen Page 3 Charge Amps should show a positive value periodically. Zero for extended periods = charger issue.

Annual Terminal Cleaning

Corroded terminals are a silent battery killer. Clean and protect terminals every year.

Monitor in Cold Weather

Cold weather reduces battery capacity. A borderline battery in summer will fail in winter.

Act on 2750 Immediately

2750 is your early warning — Mobile Link alerts let you replace the battery before it causes a 2751 shutdown during an actual outage.
